La Platicona Habla: Tastes, Passions and Pursuits

For food lovers, hungry people, and cooking officionados or novices. This blog is for people who are real cooks, wannabe cooks, or no cooks at all. Almost all of these recipes are vegetarian, some use seafood. Recipes are creations of my own, adaptations from cookbooks, or from other internet sources with links.

Holy Cannoli!

May 26, 2010

I've discovered a hallowed gem in Denver today. By mere freak coincidence, I happened by Vinnola's italian market, deli and bakery. I immediately pulled my car over and parked in front of a windo filled with dried pasta and a sweet older couple dishing out baked goods from behind a glass counter. I ordered a vegetarian panini, so huge I could barely lift it up. Amazing! I then bought a loaf of fresh baked bread for less than 3 bucks, and some amazing baked goods straight out of a memory I have of the hallowed bakery in Little Italy known as La Ferrara (on Grand street). I bought a pistachio cannoli and creme puff and devoured the same with co-workers. I am going back for more as soon as I finish this post. They have so many baked goods, I can't help but dream of a face full of powdered sugar. Before I eat all the cannolis, you can get some too at 7750 west 38th ave, wheatridge, colorado. The website is www.vinnolasitalianmarket.com. You can see all the pastry they have to offer!
